Interview by:  Joe Sullivan | Song Hookers' Talent & Promotions Manager

Joe- What's performing in the US like compared to SA?

Abri-”South African audiences are notoriously tough! Great training ground. We have found audiences in the U'S and Europe to be much more emotive! South Africans are hardy people ... they have to be!”

Joe- What's your creative process for writing songs?

Abri-”The essence of a song for me lies in the lyric, so I start there. There is usually some philosophical type question that underlies whatever it is I'm trying to write. This seems to be true of all the arts... at least I think it should be. This is why there is a great divide between art and entertainment.”

Joe- Where do you see the Lemmings going?

Abri- “The Lemmings will release a new CD later this year and tour again.  U.S and hopefully Canada too.  It would also be great to do a few shows back in S.A.”

Joe- If you could change one thing about the history of the band, what would it be?

Abri- ”I have noticed in life that I generally seem to end up exactly where I need to be and that there are pieces of the puzzle that one cannot hope to see until later, so my advice is change nothing about the past and dream forward... if that makes any sense.”

Joe- How often do you all rehearse and how structured is it?

Abri- ” We rehearse a lot when we are all in the same country, and it's very structured. We learn the new songs and try to record everything so as to improve on it.

Joe- What's your process for determining if you like your own music? How do you view you own work? Do you look at it from an artist or fan perspective as you create it?

Abri- ”A song is good when I keep wanting to play it! A great song pulls you into it. Only a third of what I write survives, so you have to be fairly prolific!

Joe- What do you think is the most important aspect when looking for band members and what advice would you give?

Abri- “You have to like them and they have to drink a lot of coffee!!! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ludwig and Brian I have known for many years and each have valuable skills and abilities that I don't so the sum of the parts are really important.”

Joe- What do you think of social media like Myspace and Twitter? Do you think you should limit yourself to how much of your personal life you should expose?

Abri- “The computer universe is new to me really!  And I'm only now looking at it. It's a valuable tool. I guess it depends on the game you're playing... it seems that some people want
celebrity for its own sake and so turn their private lives into a circus. I think an artist should just be an artist.”

Joe- How do you view your band, do you see it as a business and pay attention to efficiencies and structure or is it more free form and artistic?

Abri- “Other people are better at business than I am so I let them get on with that. Obviously if it makes money one can concentrate more on it, so that's always a goal.”

Joe- How do you think being married will inspire future musical works?

Abri- “Marriage is great... I recommend it. We're both artists, so we understand and support each other.”

Joe- What do you think of all the True-Blood fan sites that are out there?

Abri- “True blood fans seem very loyal and enthusiastic and it will be interesting to see what happens there!”

Joe- Any thoughts on projects that would cater to both True-Blood and Lemmings fans at the same time like maybe acting or soundtracks on True Blood or Kristin in a video?

Abri- “We have discussed a music video in this line, which could be fun.”
